Overview
The open source philosophy is a growing and vital part of the new economy. Millions of people are flocking to the Web each month to share knowledge and information. Any company that ignores the opportunities presented by these changes risks falling behind or becoming obsolete all together. The Treasure Hunter Challenge is our official effort to harness the power of the Web-enabled global social network, collective intelligence and crowdsourcing by setting up an open source, Web 2.0 powered global treasure hunt.
A similar effort, "The Goldcorp Challenge" launched in 2000 by Goldcorp, Inc. (NYSE: GG) leveraged the open source concept to collaboratively yield the company 8 million ounces of gold and take them from an underperforming $100 million company to a $9 billion powerhouse. Like this earlier challenge, The Treasure Hunter Challenge will open up parts of Marine Exploration's proprietary geographical research and data - an unprecedented move in the highly secretive marine salvage business.
Participants will conduct research in any manner they choose but are encouraged to collaborate online and take advantage of cutting edge applications like Google Earth and the recently launched Google Ocean. The Challenge will offer awards ranging from fully participating partnerships in salvage expeditions (for recovery of finds made by contests) to trips with the Crew of the Hispaniola on live salvage operations, as well as certified artifacts from ongoing recoveries (for complete description of The Treasure Hunter Challenge including Rules and Regulations Click Here
Our objective is to transform the time consuming exploration process into a cutting edge gold discovery machine by harnessing talented minds from around the world. That being said, we have already completed extensive research and have multiple targets of interest in and around the Dominican Republic. We hope to use the Challenge as an innovative approach to dramatically expand those research efforts, cut down time between finds, and ultimately - find more treasure.
For those endeavoring, adventurous individuals that have always wanted to search for sunken treasure but have lacked the resources to physically explore probable sites, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity. If they identify a probable find they will have the resources of Marine Exploration behind them as operating partners on the recovery should something turn up. We anticipate a significant response which is why we have set up a dedicated social networking platform designed by the Social Media PR firm, NetGenPR , which will offer our existing shareholders an in depth multi-media resource for the public company and our Treasure Hunter Challenge participants a place to connect and collaborate.
